THREE PRODUCTS that each have a neat twist to them popped up at CES. One was a speaker, another an MP3 player, and the last a digital camera.
First we have the 7MP XIBS camera from Norcent. This prototype is going to make up the high end of its line, it has a Nikon sensor and a Pentax lens. What makes it unique is something far more mundane, the lens surround. As you can see, it is black, making the only camera of its type with a non-silver lens.
Next we come to a Chinese company I have never heard of called Forgings Industrial Co. They had a speaker on display that stopped traffic, it was an odd, nautilus shape that really defies description. No word on how it sounds, it was not running, but it sure looked good. It's also available in black.
And now two very similar products from Walletex, they are claiming the thinnest USB flash drive and MP3 player. Each is about the thickness of two credit cards and much thinner than the OCZ Mega-Kart Theo has in his wallet. The reason that it was able to make it so slim is because it dispensed with the surround on the USB plug, about halving the thickness. While it is not the first time I have seen this done, it is the first time I have seen it on an MP3 player. The headphones slip over the USB connector, so the buds that it comes with are the ones you are stuck with. |
